MOSPORT SPEEDWAY
Mosport urges you to carefully study these 2006 rules and become familiar with all aspects of Mosport Racing. By YOUR participation in race events at Mosport, competitors will be deemed to have agreed to comply with these rules. The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the conditions of all events, and the participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF, OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official. The race director shall
be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of these specifications
herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter
the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY
OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF THE SPECIFICATIONS. Any
interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of
the officials. Their decision if FINAL. A membership must be obtained before a race car driver or team can take part in any Mosport event. Each MEMBERSHIP is entitled to five (5) pit passes which must be shown at the pit gate upon entry for any racing event. All applications are subject to approval or rejection by Mosport. Numbers will be on a first request basis. Numbers to be used are 00 through 99 and must be approved by Mosport to avoid duplication. All members must be 18 years of age, unless a release form is signed by a parent or guardian. Upon sale of a members car, the registered number may be used by the new owner, subject to written permission of the original owner. Prize money and points fund awards will be paid only to the membership holder or car owner as determined at time of registration. Members of Mosport are not employees and are independent contractors and shall assume and take all responsibility for all charges and premiums, if any, payable of any funds they may receive from the participation in any Mosport event. If asked a driver must display a membership card to a Mosport Official in charge when registering at a race event. Any suspended driver or injured member shall not participate in any event without Mosports approval. A doctor’s release may be requested by Mosport in the case of injured drivers. THERE WILL BE NO NUMBER'S WITH "LETTERS" USED THIS YEAR. Points are not awarded until registration is paid. MEMBERSHIP

Failure to do so will result in loss of a portion of their prize money. Abuse of any Mosport Official and, or use of improper language (swearing and foul language) at any time is strictly prohibited. Any driver, car owner, crew member, family member or friends of the driver assaulting any Mosport Official, other drivers, crew members or any other person at anytime prior to, during, or after the race event will be suspended from that event and possible future events. Driver’s are RESPONSIBLE for the actions of everyone in his or he pit area and people that are helping or are at the track to visit. Any infraction of these rules will result in immediate disqualification for that event.

1. No one is to consume any intoxicating beverages or controlled substances in the pit area until after the LAST CHECKERED FLAG OF THE LAST EVENT HAS BEEN DISPLAYED. (This includes pit crew, friends and family.) No drinking in the Tech area until everyone has cleared Tech. 2. A release form must be signed by all persons before entering the pit area. 3. Before any car may take part in an event, it is subject to inspection by Mosport Officials. 4. Cars must pass through technical inspection and receive an approval sticker. No car shall practice or compete on the race track without the approved sticker. Any car may be inspected by Mosport Officials at any time. The official starter (or designate) must be in the Starters Box before any cars are allowed on the track. 5. No car shall practice or compete on the track until all safety equipment, safety vehicles and safety personnel are in their respective positions. 6. Driver only allowed in the race car while on the track surface. NO RIDERS IN, OR ON THE RACE CAR.
7. The driver assumes the responsibility for the actions of his/her
pit crew. 8. Abuse of any Mosport official and the use of improper language at anytimeis strictly prohibited. Any driver, car owner, crew member or family member assaulting any Mosport official, other drivers, crew members or any other person at anytime prior to, during, or after the race event, or away from the track will be suspended from future events. 9. No one under the age of fourteen (14) is allowed in the pit area unless an UNDER AGE WAIVER is signed. Special UNDER AGE WAIVER FORMS are available from the TRACK DIRECTOR for those persons requiring them. 10. A Race Car shall be driven only by a Registered Driver or Drivers. Registration will be waived for one night in the case of a New Driver to the track. However this Driver and Vehicle must be approved by Tech before entering the Race surface. NOTE: Specials Exempted. 11. There will be a DRIVERS MEETING at each race event and it is mandatory that all DRIVERS attend. At this time there will be no running of engines (generators or car engines) in order that everyone can hear the information and instructions given to the drivers. 12. Any injury sustained on Mosport property must be reported to Mosport officials on that race day. 13. All drivers in all classes must wear approved crash helmets (which meets a minimum SNELL 2000 STANDARD. An APPROVED FIRE SUIT that effectively covers the body from the neck to the ankles and wrists is mandatory. It is also highly recommended that drivers wear complete full coverage fire resistant under wear, and a neck brace. All wearing apparel must be clean and in good condition. Unapproved helmets will be held in Tech until end of the event. 14. Paint and lettering must be neatly and brightly painted. Car numbers assigned by track, must be painted or decaled on both sides of the car and on the roof, in a colour offering distinct contrast to the colour of the car. Roof number must face outside wall (right side). Numbers must be 20" high by 4" wide. A 4" number must be painted on each front and rear light cap. A white 4" car number must be located on upper right corner of windshield. No trick lettering. 15. Any car sustaining damage in competition will be expected to be repaired, to appearance standards for the next weeks event. 16.
Every car must have a hookup point, front and rear, for towing purposes. 17. The TRACK RETAINS THE RIGHT TO ADJUST THE VEHICLE WEIGHTS IF NECESSARY to have COMPETITIVE RACING or in the BEST interest of the drivers and/or the track. 18. No working on car before completion of Tech Inspection at the end of the Feature Race.
FLAGS Knowledge of the flags used by Track Officials are of great importance to the Race Car Driver. His or her safety, and that of the other drivers in a race may depend on his or her recognition and response to a flag signal from the Track Official. GREEN FLAG: START of the RACE: a car that is not on the track when the green flag is displayed may not enter the race. ORIGINAL START AND RESTART: Cars may begin passing as soon as the green flag is displayed providing your car has crossed the white starting line in corner four. YELLOW FLAG: Yellow Flag signifies DANGER on the Track. All cars will slow down IMMEDIATELY and pull into line behind the car ahead. If two (2) cars are running side by side the inside car shall take preference. If you are signaled by a track official to get into position while under Yellow and refuse to, you will be Black Flagged and disqualified for that race. No stopping on the track for any consultation with track officials. RED FLAG: Red Flag means that the race must be STOPPED IMMEDIATELY regardless of the positions of the race cars on the track. ALL CARS MUST SLOW DOWN AND STOP. Do not proceed to the start-finish line until the Yellow Flag or Yellow signal light is displayed. BLACK FLAG: Go to the pits immediately. (Centre of track). No Stopping on the Race Track. The Starters' decision is Final. Failure to obey this flag will result in suspension for the balance of the race. If you cause the race to be stopped by disobeying the flag, you will be suspended for additional race meets and you will forfeit all points for race event. This flag means disqualification. BLACK FLAG WITH ORANGE CIRCLE (MEATBALL FLAG): Go to pit lane or pits immediately for consultation. This flag indicates mechanical problems. E.G. leaking oil, leaking water, smoking or loose parts. Failure to obey this flag will result in a BLACK FLAG. CROSSED FLAGS: Two flags held in a crossed position resembling the letter X indicates that the race Leader has reached the half-way point. BLUE FLAG WITH DIAGONAL STRIPE: Passing flag: You are about to be passed, pull to the left or inside of the track and yield room on the right or outside of the track to allow the faster car to pass safely. A driver failing to obey the passing flag will receive the BLACK FLAG. WHITE FLAG: Indicates that the lap in progress is the final lap before the green or checkered flag. CHECKERED FLAG: The race is complete. |

RACE
PROCEDURES 1. Every driver will report to the RACE REGISTRAR (the lap scorers) and advise them that they are available for racing. At this time the driver will either draw for position or be advised as to his or her starting position based on the system that is being used. ANY DRIVER WHO FAILS TO REPORT or REPORTS AFTER 5:45 p.m. on regular race events will start scratch for the heats. Any driver asking to start scratch will start scratch for both heats and feature. 2. Starting line-up will be posted and cars must be aligned according to instructions of Mosport Officials assigned to respective pit area.Failure to be in assigned position when event is called will result in forfeiture of position. 3. Cars with co owner/drivers will be registered as a Team and points will be awarded to the team listed with the registrar for that race (night) event. All Teams must be registered at start of season. 4. Each driver will draw for the first heat and
the lineup will be inverted for the second heat. 6. To maintain your position in the feature you must complete a minimum of ˝ the number of laps in each of the heats that night. (Not combined laps for both heats.) If
you are disqualified or black flagged you start behind the feature starting
positions. 6A. New Drivers will start scratch for the Heats and Feature for the first night. 7. While on the race track all drivers and cars are under the jurisdiction of the Starter, who will communicate his or her instructions by flag and/or light signals. The Starter's decisions are FINAL. Final race results are subject to change according to protest procedure and/or Final Technical Inspection.
8. ANY CAR NOT HANDLING PROPERLY OR JEOPARDIZE SAFETY OF THE
RACE or causing excessive restarts will be put to the back
of the field or is subject to a black flag by the race officials. Any car found technically illegal will lose all points and monies accumulated for that race or race event. 10. ENTERING AND EXITING TRACK SURFACE FOR A RACE.All cars will Enter Pit Lane at the North-West corner of the Pits (corner #4). All cars will proceed down Pit Lane and Enter Track surface at South-West End of Track. (Corner #1). Exiting Track - (While Race is in Progress) Enter Pit Lane at North end (Corner #4) and drive down Pit Lane & enter Pit area at South end. - (After Race Completion) - Enter Pit area in Middle of Back Stretch. Any car entering or exiting Race surface not complying with these Rules could be disqualified for that race. Exceptions to these Rules would be if instructed to do otherwise by a Track Official. 11. Any excessive SPEEDING in the PIT AREA OR PIT LANE will result in DISQUALIFICATION FOR THE RACE EVENT.

PROTEST PROCEDURE: ALL CLASSES
A legal protest may be filed according to the protest procedure only by a Mosport Membership holder. Protest to be given to any Mosport Tech. Official or Track Director and must be in writing on the Official protest form (see attached). Mosport reserves the right to inspect protestor's vehicle at any time. All decisions made by Track Officials are FINAL.
VISUAL PROTEST: Visual Protest by Membership holder ONLY (in their own class). All visual protests must be made to the respective Technical Directors on forms provided with all the information required on the forms complete.
VISUAL SHALL MEAN: Any equipment which is outwardly visible or accessible without the use of tools: Weight, measurements by use of a tape measure and removal of air cleaner, are considered visual. A non-refundable fee of $25.00 in cash is required. Any car visually protested and found to be illegal will lose all points and monies accumulated for THAT RACE.
TECHNICAL PROTEST: Technical Protest by Membership holder ONLY (in their own class). All technical protests must be made to the respective Technical Directors on forms provided with all the information required on the forms complete. A fee of $250.00 (in cash) is required.
PENALTIES: Penalties will be assessed by RACE DIRECTOR and may include a warning for external weights and measurements.
TECHNICAL PROTEST: Relates to equipment which requires the use of tools, to remove, or make accessible to inspect the protested part of equipment. The car to be inspected shall provide his or her crew member and tools required for inspection. Engine inspection shall include the removal of the carb, intake, one head and oil pan. If car is found to be illegal, Protestor will receive fee. Any car illegal of technical protest will lose all points and monies accumulated for that race event. Any car not complying to these inspections will be considered illegal. If car is found to be legal the money will be given to the owner of the protested vehicle.
NOTE: ALL TECHNICAL DIRECTOR DECISIONS ARE FINAL. Only Protestor, the Protested Driver and Protested Crew member and Mosport Officials are allow in the Protest Area. All Technical Protests must be made within 10 minutes of the completion of the race, in which Protested Car Raced.
ILLEGAL PARTS: If illegal or questionable parts are found during Tech, after the evenings races, the Track has the option to keep the parts. If illegal, parts will be returned at the end of the season. Questionable ones if deemed legal will be returned ASAP.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: The word STOCK OR O.E.M. (ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURED) when used herein shall mean unaltered, as factory produced. That excludes all after market "high performance" parts, and all decisions and rulings shall be determined by Technical Staff. BORROWING OF CARS In the event that a driver has Mechanical problems and is unable to compete in his or her OWN car then he or she may BORROW A CAR PROVIDING THAT IT IS BORROWED BEFORE THE DROP OF THE GREEN FLAG OF THE FIRST RACE OF THE EVENING. e.g. (Thunder Car 1st Heat). BORROWED CAR MUST BE OF THE SAME CLASS THAT YOU ARE RUNNING AND MUST HAVE DRIVERS REGISTERED NUMBER ON IT.
SEALING OF ENGINES A driver or Owner has the option to have the BOTTOM END of his MOTOR SEALED BY THE TRACK TECHNICAL INSPECTOR. If the ENGINE is sealed then it can not be torn down but a DRIVER may still protest only the TOP END of a MOTOR, e.g. HEAD, INTAKE, etc. A PROTESTER will be notified if the bottom end has been OFFICIALLY SEALED by the TRACK and allowed to withdraw his protest. |
