The
countdown is on as Mosport International Raceway prepares
to host Canada's biggest sports car race featuring
the only Canadian stop for the prestigious American
Le Mans Series, part of the Mobil 1 presents the Grand
Prix of Mosport, Aug.23-26.
The American Le Mans Series (ALMS) features teams,
drivers and manufacturers with world class renown.
Throughout the four classes of competition are many
of the world's top marques such as Audi, Porsche,
Acura, Corvette, Ferrari and Panoz. Behind the wheel
of these machines are the finest road course racers
in the world such as Audi R10 TDI piloted by 2006
co-champion Allan McNish, Timo Bernhard of Penske
Racing's Porsche Spyder prototype team, and Canada's
own Ron Fellows who drives the C6-R Corvette for the
Corvette Factory racing team. Joining these accomplished
drivers for 2007 are open-wheel veterans Adrian Fernandez
and Bryan Herta.
In addition to the American Le Mans Series at Mosport
are six exciting open wheel and sports car and GT
champions are on the schedule featuring many established
and up-and-coming Canadian and International drivers.
The SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge also returns
to Mosport this year with races in both the GT and
Touring classes, and Ron Fellows will once again drive
for the Cadillac factory team in the GT race. The
Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear and
Formula BMW USA are highly competitive open-wheel
series that feature rising young Canadian stars such
as Devon Cunningham (Mazda) and Daniel Morad (BMW).
The IMSA GT3 Cup featuring Porsche 911 (Type 997)
cars and the sportscar prototypes of the IMSA Lites
series round out the weekend schedule.
In addition to the great racing on-track, the Mobil
1 Grand Prix of Mosport features lots of cool things
away from the track for fans to see and do as well
at this year's event, such as an ALMS team tech talk
and an autograph session with American Le Mans Series
drivers and teams, two brand new XBOX 360 Forza Motorsport
2 racing simulators and lots of vendors selling authentic
race-related merchandise. The American Le Mans Series
race will also feature its famous open grid walk,
which allows spectators unparalleled on-track access
to the teams and drivers minutes before the green
flag drops. This feature of ALMS racing is unique
amongst top-level racing series and enables fans to
enjoy a real interactive racing experience.
A four-day SuperTicket is just $65 until August 22
($80 at the Gate) and each ticket includes parking,
paddock admission, and entrance to Saturday Night
Stock Car racing at Mosport Speedway. Children 12
and under are free when accompanied by a paid adult
admission. Single day tickets are also available.
General and family camping areas are available, with
full-service washrooms, showers and children's playgrounds.
An advanced three-day weekend general camping pass
is just $30 (For tents or pop-up trailers). RVs are
$50 for the weekend.
For those looking for a real Mosport VIP experience,
tickets to the Grand Prix Club are available for $200.
The Grand Prix Club includes a three-day admission
and Sunday VIP Hospitality which features a fully
catered lunch and beverages, and is located trackside
overlooking the start/finish straight and corner one.

of Corner Eight (a hard-breaking right
turn at the end of the Andretti Straightaway),
tickets are $95 per person.
