Mosport Ticket Prices Remain Unchanged for 2001

Bowmanville, ON – March 12, 2001: Patrons of Mosport will again be able to enjoy world class racing at family affordable prices. With the 2001 event tickets now on sale, prices remain unchanged from a year ago.

"Mosport has been able to place a cap on our event admission" remarks Myles Brandt, Executive Raceway Director. "The escalating costs, to the  public, for all forms of entertainment seems to rise annually. Through  due diligence and the support of our increasing list of sponsors, we've  been able to continue offering race fans unprecedented access at  affordable rates. Only slight price changes, to event tickets, have occurred in the past three years, none from a year ago. The task of maintaining rates yet difficult is important, as we find ourselves in the position of other Canadian sports properties. We have to pay for high profile racing series in U.S. funds."

The major event roadcourse schedule begins with the traditional Victoria Day Trans-Am Weekend, May 18/19/20, 2001. A weekend Superticket is only $40.00, until May 16th. The well-established  Trans-Am Series is the headliner, with several other series also conducting championship rounds. Additional features are the Speedvision World Challenge, Pro Spec Racer, F3, Canadian Formula Ford Championship, Canada GT Challenge Cup and Isseco Kumho F1200 Championship.

CASCAR's nation wide Castrol Super Series makes two stops again. First up, National Fast Freight delivers the EXIDE Batteries 200, June 9th at the 1/2 mile Mosport Speedway. Don Thomson Jr. will be vying for three  straight wins on the oval. The advance sale ticket price is just $20.00, until June 6th.

The Castrol Super Series teams will then come back to Mosport just two weeks later, but to the 2 1/2 mile roadcourse. The Mosport 250 takes place June 22/23/24, 2001 on the newly resurfaced and widened historic circuit. Expect faster lap times and increased competition as these CASCAR teams continue honing their roadcourse skills. Additional races on the roadcourse come from Canada GT Challenge Cup, Grand Am Cup and Isseco Kumho F1200 Championship. All this in a weekend ticket for only $30.00 in advance, until June 20th.

Sunoco Ultra 94 Celebration of the Automobile presented by The Toronto Star Prestige Wheels is next,June 30/July 1, 2001. It's everything the automobile enthusiast craves. Show & Shine, best appearing awards, flea market, racing, "how to" seminars and entertainment are samplings of  some activities you'll find all weekend. Wrap this much car-mania on a few hundred acres of Mosport land at $25.00 per person.

The Parts Canada Superbike Championships annual visit is July 20/21/22, 2001. All the top riders and manufacturers will be here. With some of the off season changes, this should be another action packed event on the bike calendar. Supertickets for the race weekend can be purchased in advance for $35.00, until July 18th.

And speaking of action packed, the ASM sanctioned round of the Canadian Superbike Championship is the culmination of SUPERSHOW Productions, BIKE WEEK 2001.

An entire week of activities including instructional classes and demo rides precedes the race weekend. Further information about BIKE WEEK 2001 can be obtained online, www.supershowevents.com or through the Supershow office (905) 655-5403.

Le Mans comes to Mosport August 17/18/19, 2001 for the Grand Prix at Mosport. Featuring the American Le Mans Series, manufacturers stretch  their legs and produce sheer pulsating excitement and drama the likes you've never seen. It took fifteen years to break the outright track record. Audi achieved this in 2000. With even more surface and fresh asphalt this year, the bar may move again! Panoz and Cadillac will be among the Prototype entries vying for the class-win against Audi. There's more, in the GTS and GT classes, on track battles and pit crew strategy will make the difference for Corvette, Saleen, Porsche and BMW teams. The advance sale weekend Superticket is set at $45.00 until August 15th.

Weekly stock car racing resumes May 12th. Speedy Auto Service Saturday Night Racing will run weekly until September 8th. A talented crop of oval experts competes in four divisions, Thunder Car, Challenger, Open Wheel Modified and Late Model. In addition to the regular divisions, several touring series make a stop at the Speedway. Adult admission each week is just $12.00. The gate opens at 5:30 PM.

All events at the Mosport facilities provide free admission to children 12 and under, when accompanied by an adult.

The Mosport Kart Club offers a great day at the races. Here's your chance to watch future star hopefuls put their Karts to the task in Junior and Senior age groups ranging from restricted 4 stroke to awesome 125 cc gearbox (shifter) Karts. The season starts in May and runs through to October.

Additionally, Mosport International Raceway is host to several rounds of the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs (CASC) - Ontario Region Championship. A variety of cars from single-set open wheel formula  classes to several sedan classes including GT1 Trans-Am style cars can be seen. As with Karts, budding careers are being honed at the Regional races.
