MOSPORT READY FOR CASCAR SUPER SERIES AND WWF’s IVORY

Bowmanville, ON - June 13, 2000: The best in the business, the CASCAR Castrol Super Series, return to Durham June 17th for The EXIDE Batteries 200 at Mosport Speedway along with Mosport's own Cullwick Auto Service Challenger Division. Also appearing is WWF Superstar Ivory, for a one-hour autograph session starting at 5:45 PM.

The top three in CASCAR Eastern Series points come into Mosport with unique stories. Point's leader Don Thomson Jr., #4 Home Hardware Chevrolet Monte Carlo is the defending champion of the Mosport Speedway event, taking the CDS Tech 200 win in '99. Thomson went on to claim the Eastern Series crown. Kerry Micks, #02 Ford Fast Lane Ford Taurus, recently  took over "ironman" status in CASCAR with 119 consecutive Super Series starts. Micks is coming to Mosport having just won the AutoPro UAP/NAPA 150 June 10th at Quebec's Autodrome St. Eustache. Al Turner, #76 Blue Streak Chrysler Intrepid, won the opening two rounds of the season  (Deleware & Cayuga) but contact with the wall following a first lap melee  June 10th placed him well back in the finishing order. Although his Mosport success has come more on the roadcourse with the August UAP/NAPA presented National Event, he feels confident about Mosport Speedway after the pre-season media/test day run on the 1/2 mile semi-banked oval.

Many eyes will be on Brad Jacques, #99 EXIDE Batteries Chrysler Intrepid. As title sponsor of the Mosport Speedway race, employees and their families will be on hand to watch their car and driver hopefully turn around a rough start to the season here at the EXIDE Batteries 200.

Canada's only National Stock Car Series, The CASCAR Castrol Super Series has seen some fantastic racing so far this season. The "Big Three" machinery of Chrysler, Chevy and Ford has been showing well in the top 5 race results. Each are represented in the top three overall points, proving parody exists in the Super Series. The EXIDE Batteries 200 has the  makings of a battle between fan favorite marquees.

The gates open at 1:00 PM with practice, time trials and qualifying heat races taking us to the 5:45 PM autograph session with CASCAR drivers and WWF Superstar "Ivory".
