Muscle
Milk CytoSport Wins The Mobil 1 Presents The Grand
Prix Of Mosport
|
 |
The
final day the Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix
of Mosport saw a heavy accident on the Mario
Andretti straight cause severe damage to the
Armco safety barrier bringing out a red flag.
The lengthy stoppage essentially brought an
early end to the American Le Mans Series race
after it was determined that the safety barrier
was irreparably damaged.
The pole setting Muscle Milk CytoSport Porsche
RS Spyder piloted by Germany's Klaus Graf and
Romain Dumas of France held off the Patron Highcroft
Racing duo of David Brabham and Simon Pagenaud
who still hold the lead in the LMP championship
heading into the final round of the season.
Sunday's race was Brabham's 100th career start
in the American Le Mans Series, only the second
driver to reach the feat.
The excitement didn't stop with the racing.
A new feature for the 2010 Grand Prix of Mosport,
the Action Zone was a huge success. The Action
Zone Clubhouse, featuring historic cars and
autograph sessions with the Canadian Legends
of Mosport which include hall of fame drivers
Eppie Wietzes, Bill Brack, Ludwig Heimrath Sr.,
Craig Hill, Horst Kroll and Ross de St. Croix
was packed by race fans all weekend. The concert
stage was alive and kicking featuring the like
of Shania Twin, Frank Soda and the Carpet Frogs.

Motorsport
legend Bobby Unser has been named as Grand Marshal
of Canada's biggest sports car race of the year,
the Mobil 1 presents The Grand Prix of Mosport,

Bobby, the older of the two famous racing brothers
(along with Al, Sr.), established the family
name many years ago by winning three Indy 500
titles, in 1968, 1975 and 1981. Unser's first
career IndyCar victories came at Mosport when
in 1967 he took the chequered flag in both the
twin 100 mile races.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have Bobby as
our Grand Marshal for this weekend's event and
50th anniversary season celebration. He is such
a racing icon," said Myles Brandt, President
and General Manager of Mosport International
Raceway. "He went on to enjoy such a great career
following his first IndyCar win here at Mosport,
so it seems fitting that he would give the command
for the Mobil 1 present the Grand Prix of Mosport
